Canonic sonatas fascinate me musically and intellectually. They’re like puzzles, which I love.   One player starts a melody, and the second player follows shortly after with the same melody. The fun part?  You’re hearing two versions of the same line unfolding together — harmonically and rhythmically intertwined.

Also included with this set is an unusual duet (in manuscript) entitled PLUS ONE.  The first flute plays a solo all the way through the first ending and then the flute two plays what the first flute just played, while flute one plays a new line.  When they get to the end they play in unison, neck and neck, which is unusual in a duet.
